This Diwali is lit for Deepika Padukone as the global icon is not only treating her fans with her various ventures but the actress is omnipresent everywhere.

Deepika is one of the leading actresses in the industry and an inspiration to many, PM Narendra Modi has hailed the actress as Bharat Ki Laxmi. After launching her closet for a cause on World Mental health day, the actress recently shared a new collection as ‘Festive Edit’ this Diwali. Not only this, but a leading publication has also chosen her to feature on the Diwali cover of a magazine.

2019 is a fruitful year for Deepika Padukone with unique films like Chhapaak, 83′ and the recently announced Mahabharat.

Apart from films, the actress has made her mark on several platforms, Deepika Padukone becomes the first choice when it comes to being a mentor to her fans.

On the work front, the actress will be next seen in Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Chhapaak’, a film based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Trump lights diya as White House celebrates Diwali 2019

US President Donald Trump has followed the tradition set by his predecessor Barack Obama in 2009 and lit the light in White House marking the Festival of Lights, an Indian celebration. This was Trump’s third Diwali celebrations at the Oval Office.

“For many Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists in the United States and around the globe, this sacred period is an opportunity to commemorate the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance,” Trump said.

Diwali or the festival of lights is marked by prayers, light diyas and electric lighting with traditional feasts and other festivities which mark reverence to Goddess Lakshmi of wealth among the Indian business classes.

Describing the festival as a symbol of religious liberty, the US President said, “My Administration will continue to defend the rights enshrined in our Constitution that enable people of all faiths to worship according to their beliefs and conscience.”

Trump participated in the first Diwali celebrations at the White House in 2017 with a group of Indian-Americans and last year, the then Indian Ambassador to the US, Navtej Singh Sarna, was present for Diwali celebrations in the Roosevelt room.

Diwali 2019:

The legend goes that Lord Rama and Sita returned to Ayodhya, after 14 years of exile. Diwali coincides with the festival of lights and followed by worship of Goddess Lakshmi. It is celebrated on Amavasya, the darkest day of of the Hindu lunar-solar calendar. Here are some key timings for the pooja this year:

PM celebrates Diwali with jawans of Indian Army and BSF, in Gurez Valley

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today celebrated Diwali with the jawans of Indian Army and BSF, in the Gurez Valley, near the Line of Control, in Jammu and Kashmir. He was there for nearly two hours. This is the fourth successive Diwali that the Prime Minister has celebrated with jawans on the border.

The Prime Minister offered sweets and exchanged greetings with the jawans.

Addressing the jawans, the Prime Minister, said that like everyone else, he too wishes to spend Diwali with his family. Therefore, he said, he had come among the jawans of the Armed Forces, whom he considers to be “his family.”

The Prime Minister said he gets new energy when he spends time among the jawans and soldiers of the Armed Forces. He appreciated their penance and sacrifice, amid harsh conditions.

The Prime Minister said that he had been told that the jawans present at the gathering regularly practice Yoga. He said that this would definitely enhance their abilities, and give them a sense of calm.

He said that jawans who leave the Armed Forces after completing their duty tenure, can become excellent yoga trainers subsequently.

The Prime Minister spoke of the new resolve that each Indian citizen must make for 2022, the 75th anniversary of independence. He also encouraged the jawans to innovate, so that their routine tasks and duties become easier and safer. He mentioned how best innovations are now being recognised and awarded at the Army Day, Navy Day, and Air Force Day.

The Prime Minister said that the Union Government is committed to the welfare and the betterment of the Armed Forces, in every way possible. In this regard, he mentioned the implementation of One Rank, One Pension, which had been pending for decades.

The Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Bipin Rawat, and other senior Army Officers were present on the occasion.

In the visitors’ book, the Prime Minister wrote:

“Protecting the Motherland, far from your loved ones, displaying the highest traditions of sacrifice, all soldiers at the nation’s borders, are symbols of bravery and dedication.

I have an opportunity to spend the festival of Diwali with you. The presence of brave soldiers at the border, on this festive occasion, lights the lamp of hope, and generates new energy among crores of Indians.

To accomplish the dream of “New India,” this is a golden opportunity for all of us to work together. The Army too is a part of it.

Greetings to all of you on Diwali.”

Crackers Production

It has been made mandatory for firecracker manufacturers to mention the composition of explosives and quantity of the same as per Rule 15 (4) of the Explosives Rules, 2008. However, it is not mandatory to mention the consequential effects of fireworks on the environment and human health on the label of the packet or carton.

Government of India vide Notification G.S.R. No.64 (E) dated 27.01.1992 prohibited the manufacture, possession and importation of any explosive consisting of or containing sulphur or sulphurate in admixture with chlorate of potassium or any other chlorate, provided that this prohibition shall not extend to the manufacture or possession of such explosives: (a) in small quantities for scientific purposes; (b) for the purpose of manufacturing heads of matches; (c) for use in toy amorces (paper caps for toy pistols); or (d) in percussion caps for use in Railway Fog Signals. There is no proposal to ban the use of any other chemical in firecrackers at present.

Illegal manufacturing of firecrackers is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine which may extend to five thousand rupees or with both, under Section 9B of the Explosives Act, 1884.

This information was given by the Commerce and Industry Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
