‘Call Her Daddy’ Podcast: Kamala Harris Defends Modern Families, Rebuts Criticism Over ‘No Biological Kids’

In a recent appearance on the popular podcast Call Her Daddy, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed criticism from Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who questioned Harris’ understanding of family due to her lack of biological children. Harris firmly rejected the criticism, stating that families take many forms, rooted not just in blood but in love.

“We have our family by blood, and then we have our family by love, and I have both,” Harris said, defending the evolving concept of family in modern society. The remarks came as part of Harris’ broader media push ahead of the upcoming November 5 election, where she faces a heated battle against Donald Trump.

Governor Sanders had implied during a Michigan town hall that Harris, without children of her own, lacked humility. Harris countered that Sanders’ views were outdated, noting that she has two stepchildren through her marriage to Doug Emhoff and emphasizing the value of women supporting each other rather than tearing each other down.

Harris also responded to derogatory remarks from Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, who once ridiculed women without children as “cat ladies” unfit to lead. She dismissed his comments as “mean-spirited,” further emphasizing the need to move beyond stereotypes that tie a woman’s worth to her role as a biological mother.

Harris’ appearance on Call Her Daddy, which touched on other pressing issues like reproductive rights and student debt, is part of a strategic media blitz. Along with this podcast, she’s set to appear on prominent shows like 60 Minutes, The View, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in a bid to strengthen support as the election nears.

The vice president’s stance reflects a larger shift in societal attitudes toward nontraditional families and challenges long-held views on women in leadership roles. Trump targets Kamala Harris under oft-rejected ‘natural-born’ citizenship row

US President Donald Trump, who had once brushed aside Newsweek as a source of fakenews has embraced its dubiously opinionated article alleging that Kamala Harris, the Vice Presidential candidate of Joe Biden Kamala is not a natural-born citizen of the United States.

The Newsweek column was aimed at repeating the same old argument leveled against Barack Obama when he contested for the Presidential election in 2008 and Trump was among those who rallied behind it on social media. In fact, he had brought it up several times during his 2016 campaign but in vain. But it smacks of his prejudice against the natural born citizens from the immigrant parents.

What Does US Constitution Say?

In order to become the President or Vice President of the United States, a person must be a natural-born citizen under Section 1 of Article 2 of the US Constitution. Under the 14th Amendment, it clearly states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.”

The Newsweek article takes exception under the tweaked argument that the Amendment does not confer citizenship on everyone born in the US. During the elections, this old argument has often been revived to weaken the candidates and Obama in 2008 was a victim while Kamala Harris stands to witness the same in 2020. However, the poll outcome has remained neutral to such last-ditch efforts by already weakened opponents.

The column by John C. Eastman, a law professor at Chapman University, sought revive the old argument that undocumented immigrants aren’t subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S. and hence, their children though born in the US are not citizens. However, this argument was repeatedly rejected by federal courts and no legal luminary can take shelter to push forward such controversy.

Nervous Trump Camp?

Trump himself proposed such false claim against Obama that he was not born in Hawaii, but rather in Kenya, though he had to withdraw it later. The US Constitution holds the view that anyone born in the country — even if the parents are undocumented immigrants — is a citizen. And that stands unarguably for Kamala Harris, who is set to become the Vice President for sure as Trump camp is dwindling under pressure to prepare for a defeat.

In another article that appeared in Newsweek debate, UCLA law professor Eugene Volokh takes an entirely different view and supports Harris’ citizenship, with citations from the Constitution and the legal interpretation of it in William Rawle’s 1825 treatise on the Constitution. Rawle, who was a lawyer when  the US Constitution was being framed, and served as the federal prosecutor in Pennsylvania during the Washington and Adams administrations, said that “every person born within the United States, …whether the parents are citizens or aliens, is a natural-born citizen.”

 

Missing Obama? Majority Americans Prefer to Have Him Back as US President

Within two weeks after Barack Obama stepped down after completing his two terms as US President, the unpopular Muslim visa ban of new US President Donald Trump has shaken Americans to wish for Obama’s return. However, the Twenty Second Amendment to the US Constitution doesn’t allow it.

In an opinion poll conducted by the Public Policy Polling after surveying 725 registered voters on January 30 and 31, majority or 52% of the voters said they would rather have Obama as President and 43% said they prefer Trump.

The 52% voters said they would prefer to see the real estate businessman who became President be impeached and, whereas 35% said so just a week ago. Only 43% are glad that Trump is the US President. The findings of the survey wer not only shocking but appalling, said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling.

“Donald Trump’s making history once again with a sizeable share of voters already wanting to impeach him, and a majority of voters wishing they could have Barack Obama back,” he noted. The Muslim visa ban is the root-cause of apprehension, he said.

“Overall voters are pretty evenly split on Trump’s executive order on immigration from last week, with 47 per cent supporting it to 49 per cent who are opposed. But when you get beyond the overall package, the pieces of the executive order become more clearly unpopular. 52 per cent of voters think that the order was intended to be a Muslim ban, to only 41 per cent who don’t think that was the intent. And the idea of a Muslim ban is extremely unpopular with the American people — only 26 per cent are in favour of it, to 65 per cent who are against it,” said the survey in its findings.

Even if Trump is impeached, which is highly unlikely, Vice President will succeed him as per the Constitution. And there is no return of Barack Obama since the 22nd Amendment prohibits any person from contesting for the third time ever since 1951.
