Applications Open for 2027 SLAS Graduate Fellowship Grant Until November 9

The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS), based in Oak Brook, Illinois, is inviting applications for its 2027 Graduate Education Fellowship Grant. The programme continues the organisation’s decade-long effort to support emerging scientists by funding innovative graduate-level research. It offers up to $100,000 over two years to graduate students conducting research in life sciences, including quantitative biosciences, drug discovery and laboratory technology.

Established in 2015, the fellowship supports SLAS’s mission to advance laboratory science and technology by giving graduate researchers the resources and flexibility to pursue meaningful scientific discoveries. As uncertainty surrounding future research funding continues to affect the scientific community, the programme remains a valuable source of financial support for early-career researchers.

Grant Funding and Eligibility Criteria

SLAS will award one fellowship to an eligible educational institution on behalf of a selected graduate student. The grant provides up to $50,000 annually for a maximum of two years. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate degree programme related to high-throughput screening, quantitative biosciences or drug discovery.

Applications are evaluated based on the quality and originality of the research, its relevance to laboratory automation and screening, and the institution’s ability to support the student’s work.

Past recipient Benjamin David of the University of Michigan highlighted the flexibility the fellowship provided throughout his research journey.

“As I progress through this project, if I find an interesting aspect of the research, I have the freedom to pause and explore that new area. That wouldn’t be possible with other types of grants tied to specific work.”

Application Deadline and Who Can Apply

Applications are due Monday, November 9, 2026.

Graduate students, faculty members and educational institutions are encouraged to share this opportunity and apply.
