DRDO Successfully Tests Pralay Quasi-Ballistic Missile Off Odisha Coast

India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted a flight test of its indigenously developed quasi-ballistic missile, Pralay, off the coast of Odisha. The test took place at approximately 11:10 am on November 5, 2026, from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, with all designated objectives successfully achieved.

According to the Ministry of Defence, data collected through various range instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, confirmed the successful completion of the test. The trial was conducted as part of user evaluation activities in the presence of senior DRDO officials, representatives from the defence industry and members of the Defence Forces.

The successful flight test marks a significant step towards the induction of the Pralay missile system into the Indian military.

Pralay Missile Developed Through Indigenous Defence Technology

The Pralay missile has been developed indigenously by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat in Hyderabad, in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories.

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), one of the designated Development-cum-Production Partners, manufactured the missile system.

The latest flight test was conducted to evaluate the system’s performance as part of the user evaluation trials. With the successful completion of the test, the induction of the missile into the armed forces is expected to move closer.

Defence Minister Congratulates DRDO and Industry Partners

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Defence Forces and industry partners for successfully completing the flight test.

He stated that the missile incorporates advanced technologies that will strengthen India’s defence capabilities and improve the military’s operational preparedness against emerging threats.

Defence Secretary, Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development and DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh also congratulated the teams involved in the successful trial.
