iPhone is far from making inroads into China but not the KFC phone, a special edition smartphone of Huawei released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of KFC that has completed 30 years of its entry in China.
With more than 5,000 outlets, the US-based KFC is now the largest restaurant chain in China and one of the most powerful foreign brands. The red KFC phone is otherwise the Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus, a mid-range phone that’s 10,000 “K dollars,” a digital currency used by KFC in China.
The features include a 5.5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 435 SoC, a 12MP camera, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage, with a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device. It has a laser-etched Colonel Sanders logo on the back. The limited edition has just 5,000 units on sale.
The weibo page description of the KFC phone states that Kentucky China completed 30 years since 1987. Kentucky said it has joined Huawei to introduce Huawei Chang Enjoy 7 Kentucky commemorative Edition with a laser back carving, pre-installed Kentucky Super APP, with WOW and k-music.”
