Indians in Saudi Arabia Told to Stay Indoors During Aerial Attacks; Embassy Opens 24×7 Helpline

Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia have been advised to stay indoors during aerial attacks, follow local authorities’ instructions and avoid circulating videos or unverified news as security concerns persist following the October 10 attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has opened a 24×7 control room to assist Indian citizens as several injured nationals continue to receive treatment.

In an advisory issued on Tuesday, October 13, the Embassy urged Indians to remain calm and vigilant and follow official instructions issued by Saudi authorities. It also strongly advised them against circulating or reposting videos and news related to the ongoing events.

The Embassy asked Indian nationals to remain in regular contact with their airlines and verify the latest flight status before travelling. Those facing emergencies and wishing to leave Saudi Arabia may consider flights from airports in neighbouring Gulf countries, particularly Qatar and Bahrain, subject to meeting the respective countries’ visa requirements.

Four Indians Remain in ICU After Riyadh Airport Attack

The Embassy said four Indian nationals injured in the October 10 attack remain in intensive care, while another four are receiving treatment in regular hospital wards. Three injured Indians have been discharged.

“ The Embassy officials continue to visit the hospitals where the injured Indian nationals are receiving medical treatment, and are in constant touch with their family members and providing all possible support,” the Embassy said.

The funeral rites of Mohammed Yousuf Ali, the Indian national killed in the attack, were completed in Riyadh on October 12 in accordance with his family’s wishes. The Indian Ambassador and Embassy officials attended the funeral rites.

The Embassy said its officials were continuing to visit hospitals and maintain contact with the families of those injured, providing assistance as the victims recover.

India Condemns Attack on Saudi Civilian Infrastructure

India condemned the attack on King Khalid International Airport on October 11, calling for an immediate halt to attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.

“The repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are completely unacceptable and must cease immediately,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

New Delhi also expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia, saying: “We stand in solidarity with the people and the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in defence of their sovereignty, and hope that peace and normalcy returns to the region at the earliest.”

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said the attack targeting King Khalid International Airport on October 10 killed 12 people and injured 309 others.

The Embassy’s control room is intended to provide assistance to Indian nationals amid the evolving situation. Indians in the Kingdom have been urged to rely on official communications, follow local safety instructions and check travel arrangements directly with their airlines.
